Online Game Promoting Civic Engagement amongst youth
Project Managers: Emma Bailey, Tanji Holmes, Nadya Kim, and Sarah Lieberman
In an attempt to curate a more positive, meaningful, and community driven culture, we have created CivLaunch! CivLaunch is an interactive online game created to promote civic engagement among youth ages 8-10. In creating this game, we focused on the community-driven aspects of civic engagement to teach our users that they can be civically engaged regardless of their age. By giving youth the tools and opportunities to start addressing big issues, CivLaunch aims to support youth in their healthy social and intellectual development.

Children are a huge part of our society, and their contributions are vital. CivLaunch gives youth the agency to make a difference in their communities through a fun interactive online world that allows both virtual and in person modes of civil engagement. We addressed the need for developmentally-appropriate and socially-engaged digital spaces in which youth can connect and cultivate community around civic change. Children have the imagination, drive, and enthusiasm to come up with impactful ways to contribute to their society. We created an exciting interactive program that will present youth with the opportunity to be change makers and contributors on topics to which they feel intrinsically drawn. Through missions, youth will cultivate a sense of self-confidence as they work independently and in teams to enact change in our virtual world and in their real ones.
